Officebuilding University Ilmenau | rebuilding, refurbishment

The building "House G" on the TU Ilmenau campus is used as office building for the administration. After redeveloping the building envelope in the early nineties, our office was commissioned in 2006 to prepare the second phase of fundamental reconstruction. According to evaluation of a fire protection expert planner the building was subdivided into fire compartments and emergency exit stairs were attached to both gables.

By installing a passenger elevator in the wellhole, widening the doors and redesigning the access route the building was made handicapped accessible. A handicapped accessible restroom was installed in the first floor. To improve orientation the coloring of the floors got varied. In order to create a maximum number of parking spaces and enable the option to circle the building by car, the outdoor plant reshape was used to create a barrier-free environment.
