Bankbuilding in Suhl | rebuilding, restoration
The reconstruction of the 19th century entrepreneur mansion towards the bavarian mortgage and exchange bank Suhl was done keeping the house’s character. The curb roof (burnt after World War II) above the middle part of the house was restored. The extremely bad state of construction of the initial substance and the customer’s demand for wide, connected rooms required a change in the load bearing system. The new erected monolithic middle part of the building containing elevator and stairway takes over load-bearing and reinforcing functions.
The preservable substance of the building was refurbished true to the original. Necessary new components suit todays language of architects, concerning constructive and creative making. Interior rooms are fashionably designed.
